2022 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the independent film production and distribution company The Asylum, the company known for bringing us some of the craziest giant monster and mockbuster movies out there. And they’ve decided to celebrate their anniversary by putting together what is basically the Avengers: Endgame of Asylum movies. A film that sees the human race having to deal with multiple Asylum movie monsters at once – and it even acknowledges that these monsters have been pulled into our reality straight out of Asylum movies! This Asylum multiverse mash-up is called 2025 Armageddon, and you can see for the trailer for it in the embed above.
Directed by Michael Su (Death Count) from a screenplay written by Marc Gottlieb (Aquarium of the Dead), 2025 Armageddon has the following synopsis: A militant alien race launches an attack on Earth using gigantic creatures and geological disasters all based on those found on The Asylum’s Movie Channel signal which reached their planet. Now Earth scientists are forced to create other monsters and meteorological events if we are to have any chance to fight back.
The film stars Michael Paré (Streets of Fire), Sarah Lieving (Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus), Anthony Jensen (Doctor Death), Paul Logan (Mega Piranha), and Jhey Castles (Magnum P.I.). It also features creatures that were first seen in The Asylum productions like Sharknado, Mega Shark, Mega Piranha, Atlantic Rim, Ape vs. Monster, MegaBoa, and more!
The VOD release date for 2025 Armageddon is December 23rd… which means it’s available today, and you’ll be able to enjoy this film’s insanity over the holiday weekend!
I haven’t seen many movies from The Asylum, but I’ve seen enough to know that 2025 Armageddon probably isn’t for me personally. But for fans who love what The Asylum does and have been enjoying their movies over the last twenty-five years, I’m glad they’ll have something special to enjoy with this one. I have loved seeing Freddy fight Jason and seeing the Avengers assemble, so I hope dedicated fans of The Asylum will love seeing this mega-crossover just as much.
